like any typical girl, i don't play football and neither do i watch it. but since 4 years ago, world cup became an exception. (i watched tiger cup live too, but there's Singapore in it mah). it was probably due to my jc classmates' influence. can still remember watching the china match and the finals with them =)

anyway, after much hype and anticipation (mostly created by my colleagues at IA who are such big soccer fans), this year's world cup had finally arrived. it's nice to be able to follow through the whole thing right from the opening match =) i guess i must be really lucky to be having my holidays at this time hee.. this may very well be the last world cup (also the first haha) that i can watch without sacrificing any commitments.

anyway, you will be surprised at the benefits i discovered from watching world cup. for one, its the best bonding topic esp with people i just met or are not close to. they will have to be watching world cup of course. but nowadays most people, esp guys, do. it's also provided me with the best excuse to have overnight stayovers at friends' houses, no thanks to the ungodly hours of the matches and the sad fact that i don't have scv at home. in fact, i had already watched the matches at 4 different places before (not including my own place where i can still watch the pathetic few matches from channel 5, scv free preview, malaysia tv 1 & 2) inclusive of JE mac and even Bugis Junction! =p

it's also quite fun to watch it with a Singaporean crowd. can easily see what teams are most Singaporeans' favourites from how and when they cheer/ jeer =p obviously you can hear the loudest cheers when teams from England, Argentina etc are playing..

world cup also enables people to make money! hehe.. provided you win the bets tho. but from the weird outcomes nowadays i think the biggest winner is Singapore Pools liao. Yet it's fun (and yes yes addictive too) to analyze teams, playing methods etc before placing a bet. You know that you have become addicted when u start buying the New Paper everyday and the first page you turn to its the betting page for punters. Oops =p but sad to say i'm still overall losing =S

last but not least, can watch shuai ges (cute guys) during world cup! =P it helps when there are a lot of young and good-looking guys during this year's world cup hehe.. however, no matter how cute some of them may be, i sometimes can't help but feel pissed at them if they cause me to lose money or force teams i like to go home haha...

of course the main reason i watch is to see the superb soccer skills some of the players/ teams demonstrate
