mixed identity
about a week ago, while i was happily sipping milo during my break time at an almost empty table in the company canteen, my supervisor decided to join me for break.
and so he casually mentioned the prospects of me returning to the company after i've graduated. just then, my boss (manager of my department) joined in the conversation. this is starting to get serious. despite knowing fully well that it was just a casual conversation (they are obviously not head-hunting me
lar) , i also knew that i should not offend them (especially boss!) by saying that coming back to this company is not in my intentions (oops =p)
cos u can never predict the future... you can never know when you might need an offer desperately. so its best not to reject anything first.
in my haste, i mentioned the position (they were asking me if i was interested in a new engineer position called process & methods engineer i think) was irrelevant to my course.
my boss was stunned immediately. apparently, he has not heard about the fact that i am not from M.E (mechanical engin), after asking me my course he suddenly suggested that i should get attached to the Lab Department for the remaining of my IA (Industrial Attachment) instead.
*sweat*
i think he has no idea what chemical engin is about. why does many people equate chem engin to chemistry???
i can't really remember but somehow our conversation just ended. i din take it to heart actually. i felt that my boss "say say" only and would forget about what he mentioned soon since he's such a busy man.
to my surprise, he called me from my table yesterday and said he had something interesting for me.
now, that doesnt sound very nice because the last time he ever said that he had "interesting" work for me i ended up having my first OT.
true to his suggestion, he brought me to the boss of the Lab Dept. (Lab Dept office is just beside ours so its actually very convenient).
and within seconds, i was officially transferred to lab.
=S
i know i should feel happy about the chance to learn something new and more relevant, but the thought of stepping out of my comfort zone and having to meet new people and learn new things and be a new intern once again. i just feel tired...
on the other hand, my boss is really really nice to have taken time out of his own schedule just to make the transfer for me as he genuinely wants me to learn more relevant things so that i wouldn't waste my IA. i feel very grateful for that too.
anyway, has been in Lab for 2 days. so far quite interesting. but i'm getting confused myself. cos it seems like i have to be present at Lab, yet i have some work awaiting me at my original dept (even if i wan to pass it on to the new interns i need time to teach them). Lab's breaktimes are very different (and very short) compared to my original one. then today they had no experiments in the afternoon so i went back to my dept and ended up helping them with their stuff again.
now i also dun really know where i belong to liao.
so glad that only 3 weeks are left
