engineering professionalism
today i had a sudden realization that one of the most applicable core modules i hav ever learnt in chem engin is engineering professionalism. the real life examples it has taught, altho believable, have always been jus like stories to me only. it was indeed amazing to see a real moral dilemma unfold in front of me today.
and altho we were taught methods in solving real life moral dilemmas, it aint so ez when it comes to...yar.. real life. haha. in between profitablity and moral ethics, in between listening to the bosses and standing up for wat u tink is right, in between having a stable work life and jeopardizing ur career by insisting to do the right thing... its sometimes so hard to choose what to do.
the scenario i saw today was a perfect example of a "no way out" dilemma. if the engineers were to stand up for the right thing now, they would probably jeopardize their jobs now. if they were to keep mum, they may jeopardize their careers in future! its now or later.. sounds like no diff ah. its no wonder ple are starting to quit liao. haiz~
and y is it that the ple at the upper hierarchy, the very same ple who are trying to cover up mistakes, the very same ple who insist on doing the wrong things, y is it that they arent the ones who would b responsible for any future reprecussions of their actions? it would b the engineers bearing all these responsibilties instead.
it jus seems so hard to be engineers... n a professional one at that.
and now i wonder y i chose this course. sigh~
